This article analyzed the evolution of sustainable alternatives for reducing water consumption in the denim washing process through a bibliometric study. The aim was to identify trends, key stakeholders, and knowledge gaps to guide technological and research decisions. The database consisted of 549 documents indexed in Scopus, retrieved using a search equation focused on denim washing. The data were processed with Bibliometrix and VOSviewer, considering general information, annual output, most influential authors and sources, conceptual structure based on keywords, and collaborative networks between countries. The results showed a mature and expanding field, with a positive annual growth rate and high collaboration among authors. The thematic structure was organized into three main families of solutions: enzymatic interventions for desizing and finishing, low-water-use washing technologies, and water treatment and circularity schemes based on bioremediation and membranes. It was concluded that reducing water consumption in denim washing is technically feasible through integrated process and resource management packages, although gaps persist in standardized metrics, techno-economic assessments and evidence in productive contexts of regions with high water pressure.
